Plymouth State University will be celebrating Earth Week this year from April 18th to the 22nd. Next week is stuffed with things to do every day leading up to Earth Day 2022. The Office of Environmental Sustainability (OES) and other environmental organizations on campus are busy gearing up for the fun-filled week. Throughout the week, the Office of Environmental Sustainability will be posting cool tips and facts for environmental awareness on their Facebook and Instagram pages.
On Monday, the director of OES, Dr. Brian Eisenhauer, will be speaking about what PSU students can do about global climate change. Bring your questions and friends to the HUB Fireplace Lounge at 3 p.m. sharp.
Poets and Writers will be hosting an environmental awareness themed open mic night at Biederman’s Deli downtown on Tuesday at 8 p.m. Bring your poetry and share it with everyone. If you prefer not to read out loud, take a breather, and listen instead.
On Wednesday, Common Ground will be hosting two events. What better way to celebrate Earth Week than picking up trash? At 1:00 p.m., Common Ground and Student Government will co-lead an organized trash clean up around Plymouth. This event will go until 4:00 p.m. Later at 8:00 p.m., Common Ground will be hosting an environmental awareness themed trivia night.
Students will be able to stretch their creativity muscles on Thursday in the HUB Fireplace Lounge by participating in the Scrap Sculptures event hosted by the Office of Community Impact. In this fun activity, students will be using recycled materials such as bottles, cardboard, soda cans, and grocery bags to make cool art pieces. This event will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. or until supplies run out.
Earth Jam is back for the first time since 2019! Last year's festival may have been canceled due to COVID-19, but that isn’t going to stop anyone from making this year’s festival jam packed with fun! Earth Jam will be held on the Alumni Green just in front of the HUB on Friday, April 22nd from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Local vendors and artists will be selling their wares at tables around the Alumni Green. Don’t forget to support PSU art students who are trying their hand at selling everything from prints to stickers to tiny sculptures.
Swing by the festival to enjoy good food or vibe to the live music. Perhaps you’ll find yourself drawn toward a jar of wild honey from a local bee keeper or a hand dyed t-shirt from an art student. There’s plenty to do for everyone.
We’re looking forward to having a blast with everyone during Earth Week 2022!
